TOPIC: Pandemic Response and Supply Risks

A speaker this good we have to put the biography first. Michael Willis is the Director of Emergency Management for the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. He is responsible for the State of Colorado’s comprehensive emergency management program which supports local and State agencies. In this role, he leads and supports Colorado’s efforts to prevent, protect, mitigate, respond to, and recover from both natural and man-made hazards and disasters.

Michael is a retired Brigadier General, he served in the Colorado National Guard and the United States Army. He has three combat tours.  His most recent assignment was as the Assistant Adjutant General for Cyber, Space, and Missile Defense. Director Willis has an MS, Strategic Studies, U.S. Army War College, and an MS, Space Systems Operations. Michael is a Colorado native and currently lives with his wife in Castle Rock.

Director Willis’s presentation will cover his experience with the supply chain for personal protective equipment during the initial days of the onset of COVID-19.  Director Willis will discuss the level of preparedness to cope with supply chain disruption, the impacts of the disruption, and the actions taken to try to overcome the disruption.  Then he will then provide his views on supply chain vulnerabilities that the Nation still faces and the potential impacts of future disruptions.  He will close with potential steps to reduce the risks the Nation faces.
