Topic: Machine Learning for Supply Chains

Speaker: Mik Bertolli

Machine learning-based algorithms are the foundation of the next generation of logistics technologies. From manufacturing scheduling to supply routing, companies of any size can use existing, in-house data to increase efficiencies and drive competitive advantage. But how do you get around the hype and actually use it? This discussion will cut through to what machine really is and explore how it is different than other forecasting methods. We'll address the difficult task of getting started with it in an organization and introduce some industry examples and case studies to highlight successes and challenges in the real world.

Mik Bertolli serves as the Chief Science Officer for Avrio, leading design and implementation of cutting-edge AI tools in multiple industries, including oil & gas, training, cybersecurity, transportation, and marketing.  s a data scientist, Mik has over a decade of experience in designing and developing advanced machine learning theory and algorithms. From theoretical astrophysics to industry challenges, he delivers complex solutions to real-world problems. His work experience includes national laboratories, lead scientist for government agencies, sitting on the executive committee for the Canadian Advanced Network for Astronomical Research (CANFAR), advising US Congress and lecturing at universities across the US and Europe.

Together with his co-founder, Mik has grown Avrio from a small, two-person shop into a thriving company. Despite never accepting venture capital, Avrio was named as a top 36 startup in the South East and a top 10 startup in Tennessee. Avrio recently relocated its headquarters to Denver, CO.

General Information Regarding Monthly Social / Networking Dinner Meeting

Social / Networking Dinner Meetings are made available to members and non-members monthly from September through November and January through May each fiscal year. They are usually held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at varying locations in the greater Denver metro-area.  Make sure you check the dates as the day of the week may vary. The meeting activities and times are listed below. Please check the monthly newsletter for special events or changes to the usual schedule.

5:30pm - 6:30 pm Networking & Registration
6:30pm Dinner
7:30pm Business Meeting
7:45pm Speaker

You may register for the meeting at http://apicscolorado.org/meetinginfo.php.  Registration fee can be processed on the website via a non-refundable credit card transaction, or at the meeting via credit card, cash or check.

In addition, reservations may be made by calling 303-421-0797 by Noon on Friday prior to the meeting.

The cost is: $40.00 Members $10.00 Students
                  $45.00 Non-members , $30.00 Speaker only with no meal.

There is a minimum of $100 Giveaway Drawing at each meeting. To be eligible you must be a Colorado Chapter 81 member in good standing. If your name is drawn, you must be present at the meeting to win.  If the member is not present, the $100 is added to next meeting drawing and can continue to accumulate until a winner is drawn during the eight meeting fiscal year.
