Position Purpose

This role will be responsible for complete oversight and management of all aspects of RealD’s supply chain to improve operations and maximize profitability with a focus on supply assurance balanced with quality and cost initiatives. The Supplier Manager will optimize and maintain strong supply chain logistics and work with the Operations and Engineering organizations to identify and execute aggressive cost saving along with value added solutions while developing and strengthening vendor relationships worldwide.


Essential Duties:

  • Monitor the flow of information and purchased goods to ensure raw materials and sub assembly procurement processes meet defined requirements regarding quality, delivery, timeliness and efficiency.
  • Follows-up and monitors the timely acquisition of purchased goods from selected suppliers
  • Reports non-conformances, resolves or assists in resolving claims, disputes and other issues including RMA’s.
  • Drives aggressive cost reduction program while maintaining supply assurance and quality.
  • Provides early warning of potential schedule delays, anticipates and mitigates supply risks
  • Provides and requests information from supply management and suppliers as applicable and conducts analyses and might participate in negotiations with suppliers
  • Represents RealD’s commercial interests with partners including R&D and Engineering programs and projects.
  • Reviews and monitors all information relative to negotiated terms and conditions, contracts, compliance with legal requirements and the company policy.
  • Identifies areas for improvement regarding process improvements to optimize quality, cost, delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Applies and adheres to external regulations as well as company internal standards, instructions, guidelines and policies
  • Responsible for conflict resolution of supplier scheduling issues to include cost and quality issues
  • Create strategic alliances with mission critical partner/suppliers.
  • Manage availability and allocation of materials and supplies at RealD.
  • Develop positive business relationships with suppliers.
  • Report project plans, progress and results to executive team members.
  • Develop supplier performance metrics and evaluate results, communicate with supplier scorecards.
  • Support LEAN programs and procedures for document control, purchasing and process control.
  • Measurement / KPI of the role, On time delivery, Data completeness & data quality to support decision-making and Efficiency of procurement processes
  • Flexible to perform other duties as needed.



  • Bachelor’s degree ideally in Supply Chain Management or a broadly related field (Operations Management, Materials Management, Business Administration, etc.).
  • APICS, CPIM, or NAPM CPM certification preferred.
  • At least 5 years experience in supply chain (strategy, supplier interface, supplier relationship management, planning, procurement) in a manufacturing and/or sourcing environment.
  • Previous technology related procurement and ideally optical component and assembly experience.
  • Must have at least 5 year’s experience working with suppliers outside the US, specifically China, Asia and Europe.
  • Basic knowledge of quality systems.
  • This position requires up to 20% travel both domestic and international.
  • Chinese language skills a plus.



  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of MAS or other ERP and/or materials management software
  • Fluency with MRP, Financial literacy, Logistics literacy.
  • Strong negotiation skills with foreign cultures.
  • Knowledge of common purchasing and inventory concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate teamwork within the department as well as cross-functionally.
  • Strong mathematical, time management and analytical skills
