Principal Accountabilities

Plan and pipeline inventory for high complex customer demand—high dollar value and/or large part count.

  • Work with sales teams and supply chain group to suggest alternative supply chain options to enhance customer support and assure inventory management needs are met. Generate and/or contribute to out-of-box- solutions.

Manage production demand with contract manufacturer.
Single repository for documents. Audits: Bill of Materials, Engineering Change Notices, testing, factory single point of contact for builds.
Backlog Review and Forecasting, Daily Shortage Review, Process Improvement Plans, Process Improvement Implementation, Cost/Expense Control, Attrition Management Oversight and Reporting, Quoting Full Package Reels and managing excess, finished goods management, non-cancelable and non-returnable controls, communication, measurement.

Experience / Education

Typically requires a 4 year degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.

Director Logistics

The Director Logistics is responsible for leading all logistics operations and sourcing for our inbound and outbound transport and off-site warehouses for the Johns Manville Global Procurement and Logistics Team.

The role includes the direct leadership of multiple logistics and transportation professionals. In addition, as a senior member of the supply chain organization, this leader owns the supply chain relationship with one or more of JM's business units.

This role also leads and supports the development of critical processes and metrics, global carrier relationships and global supply agreements to ensure JM maintains a competitive cost position. These activities include carrier management, contract negotiations, problem resolution, process improvement, quality, service delivery and cost reduction.

The position is a member of the Global Procurement and Logistics Leadership Team and reports directly to the VP Global Procurement and Logistics. Position is in our Littleton, CO facility.

 

Responsibilities:

Lead teams, develop required strategies and perform against goals for Logistics and Operational Excellence. Ensures safe, compliant and sustainable shipment of regulated and non-regulated products across all transportation modes - truck, rail, ocean, and air for both bulk and packaged goods.

·       Develop projects and programs to meet cost savings targets and process improvement goals to achieve 5% in annual cost reductions. Identify process improvement and variance reduction opportunities and take actions required to implement.

·       Provides direction, guidance and leadership to ensure individual, team and business/functional unit results are achieved

·       Actively develops individuals for future leadership roles within and across the organization

·       Builds and manages a highly skilled and high performing team of approximately 30 direct and indirect reports.

 

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or technical field with a minimum of 15 years of work experience in supply chain management

·       Demonstrated success in attracting, developing and building high performing business teams including the ability to assess and develop talent through effective coaching and feedback

·       Working knowledge of national and international transportation regulation, standards, and compliance

·       Excellent contract negotiation skills

·       Proven ability to lead teams of supply chain professionals and to deliver results against clear performance objectives

·       Proven ability managing supplier/carrier relationships

·       Demonstrated customer orientation

·       History of building collaborative relationships

·       Proven ability to make timely decisions

 

Additional Consideration Provided for Those With:

·       Master's degree

·       CPM certification

·       Lean/Six Sigma training and certification

·       Construction, chemicals and/or specialty materials industry experience

·       Subject matter expertise in fleet management and/or network optimization
