PRODUCTION PLANNER

Production Planner

The Production Planner generates and maintains schedules to enable the organization to meet sales and service objectives in a cost effective manner.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the forecasting, Sales and Operations Planning process, particularly the supply and capacity planning steps

  • Create and maintain an effective production planning and scheduling policy

  • Create and maintain a master production schedule that satisfies customer demand while maintaining optimum inventory levels, and resources utilization

  • Prepare and update daily and weekly schedules in coordination with master schedule

  • Identify, negotiate, and bring to resolution any demand/supply imbalances in volume and mix

  • Develop and maintain planning data/parameters such as: Safety stocks, planning bills of material, lead times, lot sizes, etc.

  • Monitor forecast consumption

  • Identify and inform management of capacity constraints, and recommend strategies to alleviate

  • Monitor changes to customer orders/forecasts, and their potential impact to the schedule; manage dates on all planned orders

  • Provide Metrics and analysis with proper frequency

  • Maintain continual communications with production, sales and supply chain teams. Inform them of any potential problems and opportunities related to forecasted and non-forecasted orders

  • Maintain work order module by generating, releasing, updating, and closing work orders

  • Provide production lead times to Sales

  • Work closely with Purchasing on material availability for production

  • Aid with inventories and cycle counts, as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Bachelor of Science in Materials Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology a plus

  • APICS certification plus

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in scheduling, production activity control/capacity planning and/or MRP

  • Understanding of Supply Chain operational concepts surrounding production planning, inventory control, purchasing logistics, etc.

  • Strong analytical capabilities 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office Suite of Products

  • Experience working with scheduling and planning management software preferred

  • Knowledge of MRP population

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Ability to analyze data to make decisions on material/product requirements

  • Ability to delegate tasks, as needed Ability to meet deadlines

  • Acts with a sense of urgency and assertiveness

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

IT Strategic Sourcing and Category Mangers Needed

Resources Global Professionals (RGP) in Denver is looking for four positions, one IT Category Manager and three IT Strategic Sourcing Managers, all of whom will be working together.

Category Manager (1 position)

(Performs domain level sourcing strategy)

  • The category manager will have extensive knowledge and expertise in the IT and telecom markets, supplemented with formal research, and will actively monitor markets and indicators for key changes such as new market entrants, new technologies and innovations, geo-political risks, regulatory changes and M&A activity.

  • Manages category performance by adhering to internal savings goals and reviewing financial models for commodity. Ensure spend portfolio for reoccurring managed spend is balanced through coordinated sourcing demand and leveraged with capital project sourcing activities.
  • Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across domain where applicable, by forming and leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies, perform requirements development with stakeholders and to drive cost from individual spend sub-categories.
  • Champions weekly category review meetings with cross-functional teams to manage category performance.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Domain expertise in IT outsourcing, IT hardware, IT software, and IT services and deep understanding of industry dynamics

  • Sourcing experience and best practices knowledge (from SCM/Procurement experience)

  • IT experience, industry and technology trends/developments knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of Category Management and its alignment with the life cycle of the processes which consume the products and services in those categories.

Strategic Sourcing Manager (3 positions)

(Performs sub-category level sourcing strategy and contract management)

  1. Services and Hardware Strategic Sourcing Manager

  2. Software Strategic Sourcing Manager

  3. Outsourcing Strategic Sourcing Manager

  • Execute strategic sourcing strategies, best practices, and initiatives that support aggressive improvements in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, improved coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payment, risk compliance and other areas as identified.

  • Perform development of sub-category focused RFI’s and RFP’s, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers; develops selection criteria and drives the selection of suppliers in collaboration with a cross-functional teams; conducts supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier and performance management.

  • Develops supplier score card to measure supplier performance against agreed upon key performance indicators; tracks compliance and supports formal management reporting to management. Benchmark, track, and analyze annual performance metrics and sourcing trends against budget on a monthly basis to demonstrate continuous improvement and progress against strategic objectives. Implement supplier management programs with key suppliers including metrics, performance goals, and improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure that delivery dates and technical and contractual requirements are met. Participate in strategic meetings with suppliers and business leaders to ensure execution of defined strategies. Manages day-to-day on-going category supplier relations and seeks out growth or revision opportunities within supply base. Acts as the internal point of contact for supplier management and complaint resolution; conducts regular supplier meetings and implements improvement strategies with suppliers. Creates, nurtures, and enhances supplier relationships.

  • Participate in weekly category review meetings with cross-functional teams to manage category performance.

  • Domain expertise in assigned subcategory: IT outsourcing, IT hardware, IT software, and IT services and deep understanding of assigned industry dynamics

  • Strategic Sourcing Manager for IT outsourcing must possess deep understanding of and have substantial experience in IT infrastructure outsourcing

  • IT experience, industry and technology trends/developments knowledge.
